REQUIRED FIELD

The Timer Trigger field appears when you set a Time Limit and determines when the timer for your survey responses starts. The default is for the timer to start on the first survey page encountered. The various behaviors are explained below.

The first survey page encountered

This is the default behavior for the timer trigger. Using this option, the timer will start once the respondent has passed any access restrictions (such as email verification, captcha images, or password prompt). This allows the timer to not include time spent by the user gaining access to your survey.

Immediately upon accessing publication

Select this option will start the timer the instant the respondent visits your publication. That means time spent on access restrictions such as email verification, captcha images or password prompts will count against their total time to complete the survey.

You can also select to trigger the start of the timer only one the respondent has reached a specific page in your survey. This is useful if you want to use the first page of your survey to explain the time limit and the upcoming survey. You could then specify the second page of your survey here and once they click to continue, the timer will start. You can also use this feature to trigger the timer at any point in the response if you only want to time an ending portion of the survey.
