A time limit can be applied to the survey publication to limit the amount of time a respondent has to finish the survey. If you choose to set a time limit for responses to this publication, two additional fields will appear: Timer Value and Timer Trigger.

If a time limit has been set, when the time expires no further edits to the response will be accepted. If the survey participant leaves the survey at any time, and returns within the time limit, they can continue the survey. If they return after the time limit has expired, they will not be able continue.

Once a time limit has been triggered, it will not stop or pause at any point. This is particularly notable if you have enabled the save response progress and return later option under Respondent Movement. The timer will continue to countdown while a response is saved, and you will probably want to customize the message shown to respondents to advise them of this fact.
