Response Required

This field simply indicates whether the survey taker will be required to fill this question or not. If the survey taker forgets to fill out a required question, an error message will appear near the question.

If a survey taker skips over a required question, an error message is displayed. The default error message of "You must select an answer for the following question!" is displayed. You can customize the error message near the bottom of the question editor, under the section Customize Error Messages for this Question, in the field Question Required.

Allow each ranking to be used at most once

This option provides the ability to limit each rank to be used once, where no ties in ranks are possible. This option is not checked by default. In an example of 3 ranking items where you rank 1 through 3, each ranking item can all be set to 1 if the survey respondent feels they are all equally important. However, with this option to enabled, the the survey respondent will be forced to rank the 3 items from 1 to 3 with no ties.

Enforce a competition ranking strategy

Selecting this option allows you to enforce a specific ranking strategy. Currently, that means it will require the ranking sequence entered by a user to be anchored at the Ranking Scale's minimum value and proceed along the scale skipping values when there are ties. For instance, under a standard competition ranking strategy, 1,2,2,4 would be a valid ranking sequence, but 1,2,2,3 or 1,2,4,5 would not.

Once you select this option, a Ranking Strategy field will appear where you will select the ranking style you would like to enforce and specify whether responses should be automatically adjusted to conform (an error is displayed by default).
