When you create a condition based on Matrix: One Answer per Row question type, you must provide further information to describe the condition. The first thing you must select is the condition type, which has several possible values.

Respondent Answered Question

In order to include or exclude a response based on a respondent's answer, you will need to select the Respondent Answered Question condition. When you choose this condition type, two additional fields will appear labeled row: and column:. Using these two fields, you select the row and column to which you would like to have answered in order for the condition to evaluate true. You may also select the fields [ Any Row ] and [ Any Column ] if you would like the condition to apply to answers selected from any of the rows or columns.

Respondent Entered Text into Additional Comment Field

If your matrix question has the option Add single text field column for comments checked and presents an additional comment text field column to respondents, then you can also set a condition based on the response to this additional comment text field. By selecting this condition type, additional fields labeled row: and entered: will appear. Here you can select the row to which this condition applies or you may select [ Any Row ] if you want it to apply to any row in the question. If you leave the entered: field blank, the condition will evaluate true if the user enters anything into the additional comment text field. Otherwise, you may use the entered: field to further restrict the responses that will cause the condition to evaluate to true.

Question Not Answered by Respondent

Select this condition type if you wish to have it return true when the respondent has not answered the selected question.
