Manage Go Daddy
ARTICLE

To add a CNAME record to point to our service through Go Daddy, start by going to the Go Daddy website at http://www.godaddy.com/. Enter your Customer Number/Login Name and your Password in the login box to the right of the page.

Once you are logged in, your login box will show account links as such:

On the upper left corner of the site, mouse over Domains link and click on My Domain Names link on the drop down menu.

You should be on a page showing a list of all the domain names that you own. Click on the domain name that you wish to point to our service, and it will take to you a detailed page regarding that particular domain name. On this page, look for Total DNS. Below that label, there should be a link labeled Total DNS Control and MX Records. Click on the link and you can skip the next paragraph of instructions.

In the case where you do not see the link Total DNS Control and MX Records, it means the name servers for this domain is set to your own name servers, as opposed to Go Daddy's default name servers, which will require you to edit the DNS records on your name servers. If you wish to switch the domain name back to Go Daddy's default name servers, click on the Nameservers button as highlighted (label 2) in the image above. On the name server page, click on the tab Default Nameservers, then proceed to click on the radio button next to the label Default Parked Nameservers. Click on the OK button to confirm the name server change. After the name server change, it may take a few minutes for Go Daddy to reflect the change. Once a link shows up under Total DNS on the domain page, move onto the Total DNS Control Panel.

Under the CNAMES (Aliases) section, add a new CNAME Record, leading to a form page.

In the first field, enter the alias or sub-domain name you want to point to surveys. If you were editing the alias record for the domain yourdomain.com and you wanted to point surveys.yourdomain.com to our domain name service, you would enter surveys. Next, enter cname.surveyfactory.com for the field Points to Host Name. Proceed to add this alias by clicking OK.
