Help:Survey Dates and Times (condition)
HELP PAGE CLOSE

The Dates and Times condition type allows you to create a condition that will show or hide a question depending on when a respondent takes your survey. By combining Dates and Times conditions you can create even more complex scenarios than you would be able to with only one condition. Any dates and times that you enter into this field should be relative to the survey's time zone, which is noted in the condition.

[edit] compare

The compare field allows you to select which time you would like to have this condition depend on. After selecting an option for compare, you must complete at least one of the following restrictions: on or after, on or before and within time. You can use as many of the fields as you like to further restrict the condition.

  • Response's Starting Date and Time
When a respondent begins to take your survey, the date and time on which they start is recorded into their response. If you select this option for compare, then your respondents will be presented a consistent set of questions regardless of whether they come back much later to complete the survey. Any dates you specify are always compared back to their initial starting date and time.

  • Response's Current Date and Time
If you select this option for compare, the condition will be re-evaluated each time the question is displayed to the user and your date and time restrictions will be compared to the current date and time. This means that if you only want a specific question to be displayed before 8 AM, and the visitor first loads your survey at 7 AM, they would see this question. If they go to the next page, and then come back in a couple of hours and hit the back button, the question will no longer be displayed or be a part of their survey response, as it is now after 8 AM.

[edit] on or after

Completing this restriction allows you to set a condition that will only be true if the compare date falls on or after the date and time you specify here. Used in conjunction with on or before, you can create a condition that requires the compare date to fall between two dates.

[edit] on or before

Completing this restriction allows you to set a condition that will only be true if the compare date falls on or before the date and time you specify here. Used in conjunction with on or after, you can create a condition that requires the compare date to fall between two dates. If you complete both fields, your on or before date must fall after your on or after date.

[edit] within time

The within time restriction allows you to set the condition so that it is true only between specific times every day. There is no date associated with this field, so it will be evaluated the same every day. You would use this field if you wanted the condition to be true every day during specific times. For example, maybe you want to ask a question about what the respondent ate for breakfast, but only if they are accessing the survey between 08:00:00 and 11:00:00.
