Help:Column Options (import dataset)
HELP PAGE CLOSE

Column options allow you to enable certain features for the data in this column or restrict it in additional ways.

[edit] In Summary

Some data sets may contain a large number of columns, which makes it difficult to display all of them when viewing a list of data set records. If you check this option, this column will be displayed in the record list summary and you will also be able to specify the maximum character limit to display in the record list summary. If you fail to check this option, values for each record will only be shown on the individual record display page. It is recommended that you check the most frequently used columns needed to identify an individual record or used to sort records by when viewing or filtering them.

[edit] Required

Checking this option will require all records in this data set to contain a non-empty value for this column. Any records that do not have a value for this column will be rejected and will not be imported into the data set.

[edit] Unique

Checking this option will force all records to contain a unique value in this column. This is commonly used for email address columns to ensure that you do not have duplicate records, but you may feel free to apply it to any column that would benefit from being forced unique. Multiple records can have this column set as empty if the required option is not checked. Records containing a duplicate value will not be imported into the data set.

[edit] Searchable

Checking this option will allow the column to be searched when you perform a keyword search in the data set to filter records. If this option is not checked, the column value will be excluded when conducting a search. Please keep in mind that only the first 255 characters of any column can be searched, so some records may contain the search term, but not appear, if they hold more data than this in the column.
